Explain the Project and its Unique Use of Masonry Materials and Techniques
The building is a beautiful, modern 5-story structure of world-class design with a large, full height, skylit, landscaped Center Court space. The Center Court contains planted areas which include many of the oil bearing plants that Young Living uses in their products. This area, along with the demonstration gardens, is part of a public tour path.

The organic façade of the building is clad with cement-free masonry units. This high-quality thin masonry was chosen for its exceptional performance, timeless aesthetic and unique flexibility. Thin-clad masonry units were a cost-effective solution that offered the strength and durability of quarried stone. The use of standard size units was carefully planned, cut and installed to emphasize the strong, modern diagonal lines of the exterior.

The curved faces of the building brought unique challenges to the project. When skilled contractors deftly installed the thin-clad masonry units, the versatility of this through body stone was clearly evident. The Young Living Global Headquarters stands as a monument to the timeless appeal of quality masonry. Use of the same stone on the 1,000 sq. ft. accessory building provides continuity and illustrates the appropriateness of masonry on any size project.

The building was designed to reflect the culture and philosophy of the company, which is wellness through the use of pure natural products and healthful living. The structure is organic in form, and brings to mind a flower in bloom. It is surrounded by 3.6 acres of highly detailed and landscaped demonstration gardens, which are not only an amenity for the project, but also for the community. The 28 acre site also includes a landscaped amphitheater with a 1,200 person capacity.

While the demonstration gardens are meant to be a teaching and research tool for the company and distributors, these gardens are equipped with walking paths, water features, and interpretive displays, and are used by the community at large for photo opportunities as well as general enjoyment. Limited parking for visitors coming to the gardens is located directly adjacent on the west side of the building.

The building is supported by parking to the east, and a 1.5 acre park provided in the northwest corner of the site. The D. Gary Young Memorial Park has large mature trees as well as playground and picnic facilities for employees and the public.
